Introduction

Network and Communication services provide communication medium for the interaction and collaboration of business and learning outcomes to the JCU community.

 

Services offered

Virtual Private Networks (VPN)

VPN provides remote access to University network for accessing file shares and other internal systems.

Forticlient is used to VPN into the JCU Private network. For steps to install VPN service on your device, follow the instructions below:

File Shares (S:\ Drive, TES etc)

After connecting to the VPN first, you will be able to access Files shares including S:\Drive, TES, etc. For the steps to connect the network drive, see the guide below:

Wireless Internet (Wifi)

The primary wireless network available at JCU for staff, students is provided via eduroam.

Using eduroam enables staff and students of JCU to also access their internet and email when they travel both within and outside of Singapore. Visiting staff and students of other Universities can also connect to eduroam using their University credentials.

A separate jcu-guest wireless network is available to external visitors, delegates, etc. however, this requires a separate username and password. Please contact ICT Singapore for the same.

Wide Area Networking (WAN) and Local Area Networking (LAN)

To provide inter and intra-building connectivity on the campuses and provide connectivity to the Internet.
